My Grandma's Life Story

This is a book that I have wanted to create since is was 12. I lived in a different state and long distance calls were expensive; I also didn't have a computer. Fast forward several years to when I was an adult and not only had a computer I was done with college, doing freelance graphic design and lived in the same state as my Grandma. My Aunt Nancy, who was at the time living only 3 houses away from my Grandma, decided to start writing Grandma's stories. They worked hard on it together for a long time. Life changed and that Aunt moved to a different state. Since I was now living in the same state as Grandma and had the strong desire and the means to help with Grandma's book; it was handed over to me!

I worked on it as much as I could with working full time and doing freelance on the side. A couple of years later (2013) my husband and I moved across the country. Before the move I visited family with my laptop and scanner and scanned anything that they had that would help with her book. Our first Christmas away we were lucky to have my wonderful Grandma fly out and spend the holiday with us. She stayed a week with us. In that time I took her on many adventures, to a couple of different beaches and made her hold a live star fish for the first time in her life! We talked so much and she told me many more stories which I recorded.

This book took many years of off-and-on work. Many people helped and contributed to make this book possible; especially my Aunt Nancy! I completed the design of her book in 2014 using my Adobe InDesign software and I had it printed as a 110 page photo book from Shutterfly.com. This beautiful book is priceless to me and so many family members. It was a LOT of hard work, frustration and many tears, but is so worth it all!

I am honored that I got to play such a roll in documenting some of the amazing woman's life.
